Solera - the special way of making rum. Built up in a pyramidal manner, the bottom row of barrels - called solera – contains the oldest distillate. A small portion of rum is removed from the solera barrel and filled into a barrel from the row above, whose rum is a little younger and so on. A master blender’s job knowing how much to fill from which cask and into which other cask. Makes solera so special.
